Interiors by Design, Inc. Selected to
Design First Hands On Deaf Environment Room in the U.S., As
Part of An Exhibit For The Deaf Cultural Center and Museum
Olathe, KS – Karen Mills with Interiors
by Design, Inc, a local interior design firm, was recently selected
to design the first “Hands On” Deaf Environment
Room in the U.S. for the Deaf Cultural Center and Museum as
part of an exhibit to familiarize the public with how a deaf
person might adapt their home to be notified about smoke or
fire, a visitor at the front door or incoming telephone calls.
Visitors to the museum will be able to
experience first hand how a deaf person might adapt to their
environment. Some of the adaptive equipment will include notifications
of tripped smoke alarms, doorbell activity or incoming telephone
calls. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see different
ways that notification may occur such as the use of a vibrating
bed, flashing lights or a video phone.
Interiors by Design, Inc. offers a broad
range of services including custom interior design, home staging
consultations and interior redesign. Besides designing interiors,
Karen Mills also hosts Living Large, an interior design show
featuring national television celebrities, writes for a national
publication and designs home décor products.
