Success of First High End Design and
Lifestyle Radio Newsmagazine, Living Large, Expanded to 2 hours
on News Radio 980 KMBZ in Large Market
Nationally Known Designer and Host Karen
Mills is Joined by a Broad Line Up of Network Television Personalities
and Top Designers Who Resolve Design Dilemmas for Listeners
Because of its increasing popularity, Living Large has been
expanded to a live two hour call-in show on News Radio 980 KMBZ.
The two hour weekly interactive newsmagazine airs on News Radio
980 KMBZ Sundays at 1pm with an all star roster of national
television personalities from ABC, HGTV, DIY and Bravo who share
valuable content along with top designers including Chris Madden,
Kathy Ireland, Christopher Lowell, Bunny Williams and Alexa
Hampton, among others.
“Our brand name, Living Large, means something entirely
different to every listener and celebrity guest so by defining
our programming vision with a memorable phrase from pop culture
we instantly strike a chord,” said Andrew Ellenberg, the
show’s Executive Producer. “Every week for over
2 years we’ve produced original content that resonates
with consumers on an emotional level and transcends the simple
practicality of many how to type home improvement shows on the
radio,” he added.
Ellenberg sold the idea of a radio design
show to top management at Entercom and recruited nationally
recognized interior designer Karen Mills to host the half hour
pilot for 13 weeks on sister station KXTR. Based on the success
of the program with the city’s most affluent and discerning
listeners, Living Large was later expanded to a two hour live
show on News Radio 980 KMBZ, the only live, local news station
in the greater Kansas City Metro for nearly 90 consecutive years.
After designing and staging sets for
local television productions, Karen Mills turned her designer’s
eye to interior design. When the Kansas City native made up
her mind to bring the drama of an on-camera television set into
America’s living rooms, she rapidly carved out a niche
as a respected interior designer and acclaimed radio personality.
Karen Mills also writes for a national magazine, speaks at conventions,
designs home décor products and makes televised appearances.
“I like luxurious interiors that
are comfortable and inviting. For me, I know I’ve achieved
success when the finished design is welcoming and reflects the
personality of my client. My mission on Living Large is to make
high end design accessible to the world and create our own design
mecca here in Kansas City,” said host Karen Mills. “I

at home.”

Large also airs on Classical 1660 KXTR Saturday mornings at
