As an interior design firm, we specialize in creating a time-honored living experience that tells your story and speaks to you on such a personal level that it brings healing and restoration.
To accomplish that goal we listen intently, craft a master plan, and help you move forward so you can win the battle against an interior that no longer works and finally get the home you’ve always dreamed of.
Our Studio
We believe interior design should tell a compelling story – yours, while also saving you time, reducing stress, and helping you avoid costly mistakes.
But we also believe it should be a collaborative process that meets your functional needs, reflects your style, and enhances the architecture of your home.
When you partner with Interiors by Design, you become more than a client: you become an important part of our lives and the heart of our creativity.
Karen has a passion for helping people live better …
A Note from Karen
I’m on a mission to help people live their best lives whether that’s through beautiful interior design, sharing the secret to living large, or helping rescue lost children through my charitable cause.
GROWING UP
Growing up in a family that valued the arts, music, adventurous travel, and finding ways to give back to our community set me on a trajectory of trying new things including even designing some of my own clothes as a child. And those experiences are what led me to attending interior design school and a career in both television and IBM before founding my firm.
STARTING A NEW BUSINESS
When founding my interior design firm in 2003, I decided to keep it small and personal so I could be intimately involved with every detail and connect deeply with clients, creating spaces that perfectly reflected them. But soon after launching my firm, I was recruited to host an interior design and lifestyle show titled Living Large.
MY NEW DESIGN SHOW
Once Living Large begin airing on multiple stations, sharing interior design on the air became intertwined with my design projects, propelling both areas into a global brand. First, Living Large, in an exclusive partnership with HGTV, featured network television personalities, movie stars, and other A list guests underwritten by national brands that resulted in Wikipedia touting Living Large alongside Martha Stewart Living as one of the most popular U.S. lifestyle shows.
Our design firm had similar success with our globally recognized award-winning design projects, award winning blog, and extensive media coverage – over 170 times including ABC, NBC, CBS, and two international design books who now list us as one of the top designers/firms in the world.
AWARDS AND CHARITABLE CAUSE
More recently though, I was honored and humbled to receive the national 2021 Enterprising Women of the Year and the 2022 KNOW Women 40 over 40 national award along with other awards for interior design and community service. But I have to admit, I’m the most excited about launching Karen’s Kids, a charitable cause to help fight child trafficking to which our firm will be donating a portion of our profits from our new division, The Decorating Pro.
BEYOND DESIGN
Beyond design Karen enjoys time with her family and friends, global travel adventures, spending time outdoors, art, music, and giving back to others.
